The Riegersburg. As an impregnable fortress, it sits enthroned on a 482-metre-high volcanic rock. Thanks to its imposing fortifications and unique location of the castle, it was already one of the strongest fortresses in the West, which was never conquered. History is brought to life here – an exciting destination!
The most beautiful way to explore this fortress is via the historic footpath or adventurously via the Leopold via ferrata (equipment is available from Naturbursch Riegersburg). For families with children, there is an exciting scavenger hunt with castle ghost Rüdiger. If you want to go faster, you can easily take the castle lift. In the castle, the historic state rooms, the courtyards, as well as the witch, weapon and castle museum are fascinating, which can be visited very well alone or as part of an exciting guided tour. The history of the Riegersburg with all its sights is presented in an exciting way, especially for the youngest visitors, as part of children’s tours or with a children’s audio guide. Another highlight is the castle tavern with a large outdoor dining area and a great playground including a wonderful view over the Styrian hills! Further action will be provided by, among other things: The “Golden Gallerin” outdoor escape game, the Castle Road Geotour, the via ferratas on the volcanic rock or Rüdiger’s Friendship Book Rally! With the spectacular bird of prey flight show, a Riegersburg excursion can be completed.
