Children’s Museum at Schönbrunn Palace

The Children’s Museum in the palace invites its young visitors to a time trip through the history of the Monarchy in the era of Maria Theresa and her successors.

The museum sees itself as a world of experience in which the little guests get to know courtly life in all its facets. The focus is on the life of the imperial children at court. Here, in twelve rooms on the ground floor of the castle, children can playfully understand life in the imperial era by touching and trying things out.

The rooms are dedicated to different themes and illustrate how the children dressed at the farm, how they played, how they ate and much more. Historical circumstances are conveyed in a child-friendly way through many interaction options. The little visitors can also take part in imperial life themselves and imitate magnificent hairstyles, try on dresses and set the festive table.

In addition, a varied program consisting of guided tours, handicraft and creative workshops and much more is offered throughout the year. Celebrating birthdays is also possible in the Children’s Museum.
