Graz › Joanneumsviertel
The Joanneumsviertel thrives on its wide range: here history meets the present, art meets nature, urban lifestyle meets oases of peace away from the inner-city shopping atmosphere. The clear architecture combines historic buildings into a special city quarter that makes many things possible.
The New Gallery Graz presents modern and contemporary art, the Natural History Museum shows the diversity of life and treasures of the earth, the CoSA – Center of Science Activities makes technology and natural sciences comprehensible and the Styrian State Library offers reading material in great abundance.
And the Joanneumsviertel can do much more: gastronomic offers, summer film evenings, open air cocktails, the annual Advent market and guest performances at various festivals invite you to get involved in the special attitude to life of the Joanneumsviertel.
Access to the museums and the library is via the Visitors’ Centre, which can be reached via the escalator in the largest of the transparent cones on Joanneumsviertelplatz. There is also a lift in the area of the passage from the square to the Lesliehof. In the visitor centre you will find the central ticket and information centre, a museum shop, the open access zone of the Styrian Provincial Library, event rooms as well as cloakroom boxes and toilets. In other basements there are underground storage and archive rooms.
